Project Summary: 

"TR21 Trakya Bölgesi Turizm Master Planı Stratejik Plan Raporu" is prepared to create a base for tourism development in Thrace Region in Turkey and to draw a guideline.

This report has 4 main goals; to increase the numbers of tourist arrivals to the region, to distribute tourism activities into 4 seasons by means of different kinds of tourism products, to encourage tourists to stay longer in the region, to make local communities participate to administration and development of tourism and to enrich and differentiate tourist experiences so that tourism may provide regular income for local community and different tourism experinces for tourists. The report is written to list the strategies to follow and actions to take in order to identify pull factors and suitable tourism types and to support sustainable tourism development.

The base for the study is to develop tourism in the Thrace Region in Turkey by taking sustainability principles into consideration. These principles require tourism to protect environment and the local community's interest. 

Pull factors and tourism types are determined as a result of the project. Cultural tourism, archeology tourism, sea tourism, agricultural and eco tourism, wine tourism, sports tourism and food and beverage tourism came up as suitable tourism types for the region. It is recommended to establish a tourism service platform in order to develop tourism products sustainably.
