Mission of the project is to observe and research Kastamonu in order to provide recommendations for sustainable tourism development in the region. In this way, impacts that increasing tourism activities in Kastamonu have on the levels of economic and social prosperity of the local community are studied.

In the pre-planning stage of the project, faculty members arefully chose the sites to be visited in Kastamonu. Meanwhile students could study the destinations with the help of the Happiness Index indicators. They had the opportunity to learn about local craft making in the region by studying gift shops and tourism products that Safranbolu offers to visitors and to visit archeological sites and national parks.

Meetings with the local community is held with the participation of chambers of commerce, local administrations and development agencies in company with project coordinators. Students presented their summaries to the local stakeholders at the end of the project on the topics of regional indicators in relation with sustainable tourism and the ways of making locals participate to sustainable tourism activities.
