İlçemin, Şehrim İstanbul’un Kültürel Mirasını Öğreniyorum ve Arkadaşlarımla Paylaşıyorum
Sustaining and the protection of cultural heritage is becoming more of an issue gradually at national and international levels. When elementary school students who especially may have difficulties with abstract concepts are taught cultural heritage, they should be supported with live experiences appealing to their senses. Accordingly, the main goal of the project is to measure elementary school 2nd 3rd and 4th grades students’ levels of cultural heritage awareness and to investigate the effects of the multi-dimensional educational program created to develop their awareness of cultural heritage. As part of the project, story books that appeal to senses of sight and hearing are developed; workshops and field trips are organized. Awareness levels of children after using the educational materials and participating to workshops and field trips have been analyzed and evaluated. 286 students from 3 different public elementary schools in Fatih Region have participated to the project. Pretest and posttest evaluations are done by the measurement tool developed by the project team. Result of the research shows that the story books, field trips and the workshops have positive effects on the children’s knowledge and perceptions regarding cultural heritage. The research also indicates that the educational materials and methods have influential result over learning.
